Reflections of Leadership: To Be Young Again
Tue, Dec 30, 2025
I recently found myself reflecting on my career during a conversation with a young professional just starting out in the industry.
I could see the excitement in his face and hear it in his voice — eager, attentive, absorbing every bit of advice and encouragement being shared.
After the conversation ended and we went our separate ways, I was reminded of when I was in that same place.
Everything was new then. Challenges I hadn’t yet faced felt big, even though I now realize many of them were just chapters in someone else’s longer career.
I imagine similar conversations were once had between me and my own leaders years ago.
What I didn’t tell him is that throughout my career, I drove into work with that same sense of curiosity — wondering what I’d learn that day, or what problem I might help solve for a colleague that could make their day just a little easier.
It’s a good reminder that curiosity doesn’t have an expiration date.
