Hard Decisions

If you stay in leadership long enough, there will be moments when you have to make a truly hard decision — one that disrupts momentum, changes how work gets done, or carries consequences you can’t fully soften.

Those moments do come.

What I’ve learned over time is that the hardest decisions are rarely about choosing between right and wrong. More often, they’re about choosing between what’s immediately comfortable and what’s necessary for the long-term health of the organization.

Making these types of decisions is only part of the responsibility.

Standing behind it — especially when the impact is felt before the benefit — is where leadership is tested.

Experience has taught me that those decisions are rarely the easiest ones to make.
